The Kansas City Chiefs were in danger of forfeiting Sunday afternoon's game against the Patriots if the team's gear didn't arrive following a shipping mishap, according to reports. The gear — including helmets and shoulder pads — for more than half the players were mistakenly sent to Newark, N.J., instead of Foxborough, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

The gear arrived shortly before 3 p.m., according to a Chiefs beat reporter. The team was rushing to get it there in time for the 4:30 p.m. kickoff.

If the equipment didn't arrive in time for the start of the game, Kansas City would have had to forfeit.
