Kenny Chesney Says Foxborough 'Special' Place to Play; Excited for 2 Shows at Gillette in 2013
Kenny Chesney told 102.5's JW & Lori that playing in Foxborough is "very special" and he's "very excited" to be returning to Gillette Stadium in August 2013 for two country music concerts.
It's no secret country music star Kenny Chesney loves performing in Foxborough as he has sold out Gillette Stadium annually for nearly a decade.
On Dec. 7, Chesney shared his affection for Foxborough and his New England fans with 102.5's JW & Lori during a morning interview with the Boston radio station to promote his "No Shoes Nation" Tour, which will stop at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 23-24 in 2013.
"Obviously we play at other places but to play at Gillette again for two nights in a row … this will be the third year in a row that we’ve done two shows in a row and that hasn’t happened anywhere in the world for us," Chesney told the radio station.

Chesney said the New England fans that return to Foxborough each year for the annual country festival at Gillette Stadium is what makes his trip to Foxborough so memorable.
"[The number of shows at Gillette Stadium] shows the relationship we’ve built with [country fans in New England] and how much fun it is for us and for them," Chesney said. "It’s just very special."

Adding to the fun and excitement of Chesney's visits to Foxborough, the country music star decided to name his New England fan base "No Shoes Nation," which coincidentally is the name of his summer 2013 tour.
"If any crowd represents 'No Shoes Nation' and helped build it it was the crowd in New England and all those fans out there that come to Foxborough every year helped build and are the foundation of 'No Shoes Nation' so that’s why we decided to call the tour that and it’s almost a tribute to everybody who helped build it," Chesney said.
Chesney will be joined at Gillette Stadium by Eric Church, The Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves.
"We are excited to be coming back [to Foxborough]," said Chesney. ... "I think it’s going to be a fun couple of days of music. Very excited to say we are coming back and doing two shows at Gillette Stadium again. ... I wanna go do it now."
