Margaret E. Sullivan Dies at 86; Lifelong Foxborough Resident and WWII Nurse

Margaret E. Sullivan, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Epoch Senior Health Care in Norton. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Stella M. (Hinton) Smith.

Margaret was born on April 28, 1926 in Clifton, Illinois and was a graduate of Foxborough High School, Class of 1943. She proudly served her country in the Nurse Cadets Corps during WWII. After the war, she graduated from the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Class of 1947.

She and her husband James Sullivan were married at St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough. She was a lifelong resident of Foxborough.

For over 30 years, Margaret was a registered nurse at the Foxborough State Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, reading and was an avid New England sports fan. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Wife of the late James D. Sullivan. Beloved mother of Gregory and Lorna Sullivan of Foxborough, Robert Sullivan of Norton, Eileen Sullivan of Arlington, Kathleen Sullivan of Foxborough and the late Richard Sullivan. Loving grandmother of C.J., Eric, Kyle, Kelly and Brenna and great grandmother of Lilly Mae. Sister of Raymond Smith of Florida, Douglas Smith and his wife Peggy of Plainville, Elizabeth Travers and her husband Henry of Foxborough and the late Robert, James, Joseph, David and Joan.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter St., Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxborough.
