The Patriots put struggling longtime kicker Stephen Gostkowski on injured reserve, according to The Boston Globe. The news comes after Gostowski missed his first practice of the season Wednesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Gostkowski has a left hip injury that requires surgery and the kicker plans to return in 2020.

Gostowski, 35, is a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time All-pro kicker. But his struggles this season were unmistakable. Gostkowski missed a league-high four of 15 extra-point attempts.
