Three Dead After Plane Crashes into Home in Plainville

Neighbors say all residents of the home and their pets made it out safely.

Officials say there were multiple fatalities when a plane crashed into a home on Bridle Patch in Plainville Sunday night.

At approximately 6 p.m. Sunday night, a plane crashed into a home in that neighborhood. Three people were on the plane that took off in Lancaster, Penn. and was heading toward Norwood Memorial Airport, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

WBZ is reporting the FAA says it was a Beechcraft BE36 aircraft that crashed into the home. The FAA is responding to the scene.

State police have confirmed that all three passengers on the plane did not survive.

Four people and a cat were in the home at the time of the crash and were able to escape safely according to fire officials.

The fire in the home quickly went to three alarms, following the crash Sunday night. Firefighters from multiple communities were on scene helping with efforts. Fire crews were able to place the blaze under control 30-45 minutes after water was established, extinguishing the fire around 8:05 p.m.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
