Drake Maye-dedicated Beer Has Been A Big Hit: Report

A Marshfield-based company is selling the lager throughout the region.

MARSHFIELD, MA — A beer named after New England’s current sports darling and one of television’s most famous sitcoms is flying off the shelves, according to a report from MassLive.

Stellwagen Beer Company at 100 Enterprise Drive had sold out of its “Love the Drake” in three days after its release. The drink is a 4.6% ABV dry-hopped lager, and its ingredients are not what makes it unique. The name is not only a nod to New England Patriots Quarterback Drake Maye, but also a reference to one of the most fondly-remented quotes from Seinfeld. In the season four episode, the four main characters befriend someone named Drake, however George Kostanza is reluctant to accept him. The term “Love the Drake” is then used multiple times to describe their feelings toward the person. In New England, the love for Maye is arguably higher than it has been for any Patriots player in more than five years.

The beer has been placed exclusively in cans as opposed to kegs in order to meet demand. As for the logo, designer Annika Phillips tried to pay homage to both Maye and Seinfeld without using trademarked material.
