Ten Foxborough Charter Students Entered Into National Geographic Bee

Foxborough Regional Charter School is participating in the 25th National Geographic Bee.

National Geographic Society has organized this event for students in the fourth through eighth grades in thousands of schools across the United States and in the five U.S. territories, as well as in Department of Defense Dependents Schools around the world. The 2013 Bee is sponsored by Google.

 Foxboro Regional Charter School has already administered the preliminary written test with positive results. Ten students in grades five through eight scored high enough on the initial written exam to move on to the next round. They are Evan Coyne, Jack McNeill, Alex Demirs, Naman Madan, Megan McFarland, Jack Clayton, Elizabeth DeFanti, Nora Kingman, Arlyss Milne and Isabella Herman. 

The second round will be held 9 a.m. Jan. 9 to further narrow the competition. These students will answer a series of oral questions designed to test their knowledge of World Geography.

 The winner of the Foxborough Regional Charter School Bee will advance to the next level of competition, a written examination to determine state competitors. All school winners are eligible to win the national championship and its first prize, a $25,000 college scholarship, at the national competition May 20 to 22, 2013 in Washington D.C.
