The glass half-full view of the Patriots is that the team is tied for the best record in the AFC with a dominant defense and the greatest quarterback in NFL history. The glass half-empty view is that the team has slipped from the conference's top seed with a defense that got exposed against top competition and a 42-year-old quarterback who can't make the pieces around him fit.

One has to wonder how the glass is looking to Tom Brady.

Brady did his part with a slightly less dour press conference than the one two weeks ago. He reminded fans on WEEI's Greg Hill Show Monday morning the team is "not 2-10. We're 10-2."

But Brady's mounting frustrations have become more apparent in recent weeks. NBC cameras caught Brady making an emotional plea to his receivers on the "Sunday Night Football" broadcast in the first half of the team's 28-22 loss in Houston.

Viewers couldn't hear Brady, but some amateur lip-reading pointed to him wanting better execution from his receivers to gain separation from defenders. His speech was a point of discussion from the NBC broadcast team for some of the first half.

"I think we're all trying to do a good job out there," Brady told reporters after the game when asked about it. "Just wasn't a great game."

Brady's press conference lasted twice as long as the one two weeks ago in Philadelphia, when after a win he admitted how frustrated with the offense.

While it has appeared at times age and a 20-year career could be catching up to Brady, he hasn't had much help. The Patriots' offensive line has been in tatters all season (they are down to their third-string center after Ted Karras left Sunday night with a knee injury) and the receivers — outside of Julian Edelman — have had trouble getting open.

The Patriots host the Chiefs Sunday.
