World Cup Closer To Foxborough Return
The U.S., Canada, and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup and Gillette Stadium is on a list of 23 possible tournament venues.

While the U.S. Men's National Team won't be playing in the World Cup in Russia, there is still some good news for American soccer fans.
FIFA announced Wednesday that they have awarded the 2026 World Cup to the the joint bid between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The decision brings the men's tournament back to North America for the first time since 1994, when the U.S. hosted.
It could also mean a return of arguably world's biggest sports event to Gillette Stadium. Boston is one of the candidate cities and would use the stadium in Foxborough to host the games. A decision on which cities will be used for the tournament isn't expected until 2020 at the earliest.
