2 Displaced, Business Impacted After Framingham Fire

The cause of the fire at the multi-use building is under investigation, city officials said.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Two people were displaced and a business was effected during a Saturday fire in Framingham.

At about 9 a.m. Saturday, the fire department received reports of a potential fire at 9 Central St.

"Engine 2 arrived first and observed smoke emanating from the building, confirming that a working fire was in progress," officials said in a news release. "Additional units that responded included Engine 7, Engine 5, Rescue 1, Tower 1, and Command 2."

Upon arrival, crews discovered fire between the second and third floor walls of the building.

Due to the fire’s location within the wall, the construction type, and the windy conditions, Deputy Fire Chief Nader Hamed struck a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene, officials said.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.

“Great aggressive work by Group 3 kept the fire loss to a minimum,” said Assistant Fire Chief John Schultz.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
