5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: December 22
Framingham High boys basketball will host Needham tonight. Framingham Public School students will have an early release Wednesday, Dec. 23.

1. The Framingham Library will host a poetry workshop tonight at 7. As the main library is still closed due to the electrical explosion in October, the workshop will beheld at the Memorial Building in the Nevins Conference room (113).
2. FLYERS in action:
- Boys basketball hosts Needham at 6:30 p.m.
- Girls basketball has an away game at Needham High at 6:45 p.m.
3. Students in the Framingham Public Schools and McAuliffe Charter School will have an early release tomorrow, Dec. 23. There is no school on Dec. 24. Students are on the holiday break and will not return to the classroom until Monday, Jan. 4.

Release times are:
- McAuliffe Charter: 10:45 a.m.
- Framingham High: 10:50 a.m.
- BLOCKS preschool 10:55 a.m. (no afternoon session)
- McCarthy Elementary: 11:15 a.m.
- Cameron, Fuller and Walsh Middle: 11:25 a.m.
- Barbieri, Dunning, Stapleton, Woodrow Wilson Elemetary Schools: 12:05 p.m.
- Brophy, Hemenway, Potter Road Elementary Schools: 12:15 p.m.
- King Elementary: 12:20 p.m.
4. Framingham town employees are hoping to raise $10,000 to support the efforts of the United Way of Tri-County and its effort to improve the level of food security and prevent hunger in Framingham and MetroWest. The annual holiday campaign is called “Framingham Gives” and money raised will go to the Pearl Street Cupboard and Café in Framingham.

5. Local residents and visitors near the Foss Reservoir will notice a bit more exposed shoreline these days. The MWRA will perform a drawdown of the reservoir, lowering the water to 10 feet below normal elevation in order to control the growth of aquatic invasive plants.
