5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: December 9

Vocal and strings concert at Framingham High and musical performance at the Memorial Building tonight.

1.Framingham High arts department will present a vocal and strings concert tonight in the school’s auditorium at 7. The public is invited to attend.

2. Congresswoman Katherine Clark, a Democrat who represents Framingham, signed a discharge petition to a force a vote on the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act, common sense legislation to close a dangerous loophole that allows suspected terrorists on the FBI’s Terrorist Watchlist to legally buy guns.

3. The Framingham High School girls basketball team defeated the Panthers of Holliston High Tuesday night. Click here to view 45 photos. The girls open their season Friday night against the Wildcats of Weymouth at home.

4. The main Framingham Library presents The Harper and The Minstrel: An Early Music Wynter Concert featuring Jay and Abby Michaels. As the main library is still closed, the free concert will take place in the Blumer Room in the Memorial Building at 7 p.m.

This concert features winter & holiday music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras sung and played on a wide variety of traditional instruments. The duo performs on many instruments, including cláirseach, gothic harp, Celtic folk harp, silver flute, Irish wooden flute, hammered dulcimer and more.
