5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Patriots' Day 2015
Today is Patriots' Day in Massachusetts. It is a state holiday, but not a federal one. It is also Marathon Monday.

1. Today is Patriots’ Day in Massachusetts. The day commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. It is a state holiday but not a federal holiday, which means there is mail delivery.
Town of Framingham offices are closed. There is no curbside trash collection today. Collection will be on a one-day delay schedule for the rest of the week. Both the main Framingham Library and the McAuliffe Library branch is closed today.
2. Today is also the 119th running of the Boston Marathon. Route 135 will close in Framingham at 8:15 a.m. and not re-open until about 2:15 p.m.

3. Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization is hosting the 6 Mile Moment. The event takes place at the intersections of Routes 135 and 126 in downtown Framingham from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bloco AfroBrazil will be there banging the drums and getting the runners fired up for their journey to the finish line with DJ Dr. Haze sharing the stage.
4. There is a marathon after-party at Amazing Things Arts Center from 2 to 7 p.m. featuring the Squeezebox Stompers.
