AAA: Gas Prices Down 21 Cents From Last Month

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 70 cents, from a low of $1.99 to a high of $2.69.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down another four cents from last week, and are at the lowest level locally since late February, according to AAA Northeast,which has a location in Framingham, off Route 9.

AAA’s Sept. 21 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.19 per gallon, down four cents from last week.

Prices locally are 21 cents less than a month ago. The current price is 10 cents less than the national average for self-serve unleaded of $2.29.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $1.20 higher at $3.39.

“Lower crude oil prices, along with record supplies, and less demand as summer ends all are contributing to the lower prices. For the first time since February, some stations in AAA’s weekly survey are averaging less than $2.00 per gallon, good news for drivers heading into fall,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast, in a press release.
