AAA: Gas Prices Drop 4 Cents
Today's national average is $1.99, below $2.00 for the first time since March 25, 2009.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Gasoline prices in Massachusetts have fallen four cents to $2 per gallon, while nationally the average price has dropped under $2 per gallon for the first time since 2009, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.
AAA’s December 21 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular averaging $2 per gallon, four cents less than last week.
Prices locally are seven cents less than a month ago. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was 57 cents higher at $2.57.
Today’s national average is $1.99, below $2.00 for the first time since March 25, 2009.
AAA estimates that cheaper gas prices have saved Americans more than $115 billion on gasoline so far this year, or more than $550 per licensed driver. More than two thirds of U.S. stations are already selling gas under $2 per gallon.
The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 34 cents, from a low of $1.85 to a high of $2.19.
