Boys Sprint Past Braintree To Open Season With A Win

Senior captain Paul Halberstadt won the high jump and the long jump. Freshman Ben Burgess won the mile event.

The Framingham High boys indoor track team opened the season with a 67-28 victory over Braintree High, under head coach Chris Collins.

The Flyers swept the 55-meter dash. Senior Nick Benoit finished first in 7.23 seconds. Senior Kevin Scranton was second in 7.32 seconds and junior Chigozie Nna third in 7.39 seconds.

Captain Paul Halberstadt won the high jump and the long jump. The senior leaped 18-feet, 1-inch to capture first in the long jump. Flyer Matt Kimmelstiel tied for second in the high jump at 5-feet, 3-inches.

Framingham senior Ben Kirchman won the hurdles event in 8.52 seconds. Halberstadt finished third in 8.66 seconds.

Sophomore Nate Halberstadt won the 600-meter event in 1.39 minutes. Sophomore Liam Kelly finished second.

Freshman Ben Burgess won the mile for Framingham in 5:01 minutes. Junior Saul Amster finished second in 5:13 minutes.

Junior Alex Lowry finished second in the two mile for Framingham at 11:02 minutes.

Senior Marc Umumbu finished second in the shot put competition, with a throw of 40-feet, 6-inches.

The Flyers finished 1-2-3 in the 1000 meter event. Chris Barone won it in 2:47 minutes, with Jared Nussbaum in second and Nico Nunes in third.

Senior Cam Klein finished second in the 300-meter event with junior Kimmelstiel finishing third.

The 4X200 relay team captured first place in 1:39.77 minutes. Runners were Klein, Benoit, Darian Kianfar and Scranton.
