Brazilian Man Living In Framingham Faces Immigration Charge

Officials said he illegally returned to the U.S. after being convicted of an aggravated felony in 2008.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Brazilian man unlawfully residing in Framingham has been indicted with illegally reentering the United States after deportation.

Joelson Gomes Fonseca, 39, is charged with one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Massachusetts said.

According to the charging documents, Fonseca was deported in March 2008 after having been convicted of an aggravated felony.

The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Fonseca is subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed, officials said.
