EDITOR'S PICKS: 5 Things To Do Saturday, September 19

Lutheran Church Yard Sale, Footloose, Friends of Framingham Library Book Sale, and Shepley Metcalf's Going Places at Amazing Things.

These are my picks of things to do today in Framingham.

1. YARD SALE & LUNCH: Stop by the Lutheran Church’ Annual Yard Sale and not only support the Framingham Church but also Daniel’s Table. The annual yard sale is today from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 720 Edgell Road.

Also, this year the Lutheran Church of Framingham is partnering with Daniel’s Table to give away food! Daniel’s Table is working towards the ultimate goal of eliminating hunger in Framingham. They do this everyday by taking food to the parts of town that need it most and giving it away. During July, they provided 2,206 free meals to those in need. The church will join withDaniel’s Table to give away food at its yard sale to increase awareness of the mission and to collect donations in support of that mission. Food is being provided by Thrivent Financial Action Team grant.

2. FIND NEW BOOKS: The Friends of the Framingham Library will host its month book sale today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the main library. Members of the Friends may shop early at 9:30 a.m.

3. FLYERS FOOTBALL: The Framingham High football team travels to Wellesley for a 1 pm. game. Go Flyers!

4. MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: Today is the final two performances of Footloose the musical by the Performance Arts Center of MetroWest. The cast is comprised of students in grades 3-12. Shows are 2 and 7;30 p.m. today at Dennison Hall on Concord Street, now owned by the Boston Church of Christ. Advance tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for youths and senior. 5. COOL JAZZ: Shepley Metcalf brings her Going Places tour to Framingham tonight. the cabaret/jazz singer will take the stage with her ace piano accompanist Ron Roy at 8 p.m. at Amazing Things Arts Center. Tickets are still available.

PLAN AHEAD: FIDDLE FUN: Straight from the stage of the New Hampshire Highland Games, Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham will host a performance of one of the word’s premier fiddlers tonight. Scottish fiddle master Alasdair Fraser and vibrant young cellist Natalie Haas will take the stage Sunday. Tickets are still available. The duo will weave of rocking, reeling rhythms, poignant melodies and exquisite musicianship.
