EDITOR'S PICKS: 5 Things To Do Sunday, September 13

Blessing of animals, Framingham Youth football home openers, and fundraisers for Framigham High instrumental music and swim teams.

These are my picks of things to do today in Framingham:

1. Bless the Animals! Edwards Church in Saxonville will hold a service today at 10 a.m., which will include a blessing of the animals. Weather permitting, the service will be held outside. All are welcome to bring their pets.

2. Cheer on the Jr. Flyers: The Framingham Youth Football and Cheerleading (FYFC) program has its home openers today against Needham at Framingham State University’s Maple Street Field. Games start at 8 a.m. Click here for a complete schedule.

3. Support Flyers Sports & Music: The Framingham High swimming & diving team is holding a car wash today at Angry Ham’s Garage from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • The Framingham High instrumental music program will be selling tickets for its October calendar raffle at the Temple Street Stop & Shop today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more details.

4. Drop the puck! Loring Arena opens for the season today.

5. Explore Art! Artist Roy Perkinson’s one-man show opened at Fountain Street Fine Gallery last week. The Poetry of Light is a series of watercolors, pastels, and oils. The exhibit is open through Oct. 4. The gallery is open today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
