Serving on the Framingham Public Library’s Board of Trustees is both rewarding and challenging. Rewarding because community service is very important to me and my fellow trustees.

Challenging because the Library, one of our town’s most valuable assets, depends on sustained public support in order to provide a wide variety of resources and programs or patrons of all ages.

The new McAuliffe Branch Library is evidence of strong commitment on the part of trustees and Library staff as well as Town Meeting and the FPL Foundation.

Another example is our Library’s exciting “one book, one community” initiative for adults and young readers, Framingham Reads Together (known as FRT), which I am chairing again this spring.

I encourage you to read The Wright Brothers by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough and plan to attend his talk and book signing at Nevins Hall on Saturday morning, May 14.

And you won’t want to miss the other programs in April and May all relating to the FRT 2016 theme: “Pioneers in Flight—From Airplanes to Spacecraft.”

My enthusiasm and appreciation for the Library, its resources and its programs, knows no bounds. The votes of PATCH readers will enable me to continue serving as a trustee.
