UPDATED: Flyers Ski Team Completes First Meet Of Season

Framingham High ski team finished 9th in the boys division and 10th in the girls division in their first varsity meet.

Framingham High’s co-ed ski racing team kicked off its season Thursday night, with a varsity downhill meet at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury.

“Tucker had a super run for the boys. He stayed low and fast,” said head coach Roni Sue Bower.

Tucker Reynard finished 30th out of more than 100 skiers.

“She finished in the middle of the pack scoring the most points for the girls, with Andrea Buck right behind her,” said Bower.

Junior Fortin finished 33rd and senior Buck 35th in the downhill event.

For the boys, Michael Horblit and freshman Benjamin Fortin squeezed in for points with their times, said Bower.

Hundredths and tenths of seconds kept out Ben Westervelt, Jared Brockway, and Matt Bower from scoring points this week, said Bower.

Overall Framingham finished ninth for the boys and 10th for the girls.

“I am very happy with our standings placing a head of Milton and Newton North and Easton,” said Bower. “We have a lot more races to come and I expect those that were on the cusp of scoring last night will score in future races.”

The Flyers next race is Monday night, a Slalom, at Blue Hills.
