Framingham Downtown Renaissance Hosts 'Winter Magic' Saturday

The event starts 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, and features a Star Wars event and a concert by the U.S. Navy Northeast POP ensemble.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization is hosting a “Winter Magic” event on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Stop by ArtPOP6 Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization, at 40 Union Avenue, in the former Fitts Insurance building.

Headlined by Sudbury’s favorite fair trade global imports gift shop, Mango Tree Artisans — shop scarves, jewelry, coffee, celebrity baristas, cookie-decorating, magic, arts and local crafts galore. The pop-up store is open through Dec. 24. The store is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.,but Saturday, Dec. 12 is it schedule dto open at 10 a.m.

From 10 to 11:30 a.m., there is a Kaleidoscope Making Workshop for kids to learn how and make their own fabulous kaleidoscope! Learn some science, technology, engineering, art and math by making 6 different types of kaleidoscopes with professional kaleidoscope maker and educator, Brenda Heddon from Beautiful Forms to See. The class is free, with the purchase of a $28 kit.


At 10:30 a.m. Steve Anderson and Sara Brown will perform acoustic classic rock.

About noon Moonshine Alley will perform bluegrass.

JoJo the Magician will perform about noon for families.

At 1 p.m. Libby Franck will be on hand to tell some really wonderful, unique holiday stories that will go nicely with cookies and cocoa, said FDR Executive Director Holli Andrews.

From 2 to 4 p.m., Atlantis Dental is throwing a Star Wars Holiday Party for kids and families! Please bring a donation for the local food bank. They’ll have raffles and Jedi Training.

At 3 p.m. the U.S. Navy Band Northeast POPS Ensemble will perform a holiday concert in Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building.
