The Improper Disposal Of This Item Is To Blame For 1 Of 2 Wednesday Framingham Fires

Improper disposal of smoking materials is to blame for one fire, while the other is still being investigated.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Framingham Fire Department responded to two separate house fires on Wednesday afternoon, both of which were quickly contained without injury, city officials said.

The first fire was extinguished at 14 Anzio Rd. Fire Chief Michael Dutcher reported that the fire, which was "small in nature," affected only the siding of the house.

"Firefighters responded swiftly and were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread," officials said.

Officials found that improper disposal of smoking materials were to blame for the fire.

The second fire occurred at 20 Alexander St., where firefighters found a garage and a gazebo fully engulfed in flames. A vehicle also suffered "significant" damage and the siding of the home was melted.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.

Framingham officials are continuing an investigation into the cause of the second fire.
