Framingham Girls Capture Second Place at B.A.A. Invitational

Kristin DeVellis and Lucy Matzilevich participated in the Boston Athletic Association's Invitational Mile for high school students.

Framingham High runners captured second place, behind Hopkinton High, in Saturday’s Boston Athletic Association’s Invitational Mile for female high school students Saturday, April 18.

Hopkinton’s Shelby Aarden at 5:25 and Lauren Hazzard, at 5:25.7, finished 1-2 in the field of 16 runners to win the girls division yesterday.

Flyer Kristin DeVellis finished fourth overall, with a time of 5:38.8

Teammate Lucy Matzilevich finished in sixth place, with a time of 5:55 for the mile.

The B.A.A, invites two girl high school runners from each of the eight communities the Boston Marathon travels through to participate in the invitational, the weekend before the historic marathon.

Hopkinton also won the girls 1000-meter run for middle school students.

Framingham’s Grace Poku finished in 10th place with a time of 3:59.4.

Viola Appiah-Danquah of Framingham finished with a time of 4:58.2 in 16th place.
