Framingham Native Shot in Orlando Tragedy: 'I Didn't Feel Pain, Just Blood'

A Framingham native and victim of the Orlando shooting spoke Tuesday on his horrifying experience at a nightclub early Sunday morning when a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 more.

Angel Colon spoke to reporters at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

"I would love to give my story out so everyone can know of what is going on in this community and how some people are just so heartless and how we're treated," Colon said.

"It was a great night there was a lot of laughter, hugs, smiles," he said. "Out of nowhere I heard a big shotgun."

Colon was shot "about three times" in the leg, then was shot again in the hand and hip when the shooter doubled back to make sure victims on the floor were dead.

"Everyone was running, and I got trampled over," Colon said. "I just lay there as people were running over me. All I could hear was the shotgun."

Colon offered a chilling first-hand account of the gunmen's movements inside the club. "The man goes in the other room and I hear more shooting. I thought I was a little safe because there may be time to tackle the guy, but unfortunately I heard him come back, and he's shooting everyone on the floor, making sure they're dead," he said.

"I look over, and he shoots the girl next to me," Colon said. "I'm just there laying down, I'm thinking 'I'm next, I'm dead.'"

Within 10 minutes a police officer dragged him out of the club to safety. "I didn't feel pain, just blood," Colon said. "He dropped me off across the street. There were bodies everywhere."

The hospital admitted 44 patients; 27 are still there. A doctor at the hospital said six people wounded Sunday morning are "critically ill" and five are in "guarded condition."
