Framingham Police Issue Thanksgiving Travel Warning

"Don't let this happen to you over the holiday weekend."

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham Police offered advice on Wednesday to all who are traveling this Thanksgiving.

Posting the picture of a ransacked home shown above, they warned on Facebook: "Don't let this happen to you over the holiday weekend."

Police offered important safety tips:

  • Secure your home with proper locks and plenty of lighting.
  • Try not to let everyone know of your travel plans, especially on social media.
  • Let trusted neighbors know of your plans to travel, ask them to keep eye on your property.
  • Use alarm systems if available.
  • Consider having a friend or relative stay at your house.
  • Remember... Thanksgiving is one of the most traveled holidays and burglars know this.
