Framingham Residents Can Help Design City's New Splash Pad

The city has opened a survey for public input on design elements and features of the new splash pad. Here's what to know.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — A new splash pad is being proposed at Framingham's Cushing Memorial Park and city residents can have a say in the design process.

The proposed splash pad will be located near the Academy Building in the southwestern area of the park, close to existing parking and restrooms, Parks and Recreation officials said.

The new facility will feature shade structures, seating and a fully fenced-in area "to ensure safety for all visitors," they said.

Though the city won't be able to install a recirculating water system, officials said they've committed to building out the splash pad with environmental and economic factors taken into consideration.

“We have heard the requests from residents for a splash pad, and I’m excited that we are now moving forward with this project,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. “Our parks are one of Framingham’s greatest community assets. By participating in this survey, residents can help us design a splash pad which will become a destination for families for generations to come.”

Alison Eliot, Deputy Parks & Recreation Director, said opening a survey for public input will allow residents to design the splash pad they want to use for decades to come.

“We want to hear directly from the community about what features, styles, and experiences will make this splash pad a place where memories are made,” said Eliot.

Feedback from the community will influence not only the look and feel of this splash pad, but also guide decisions for potential water play features in other parks throughout Framingham, officials said.

Residents are encouraged to share their preferences on water features, interactive play elements, design styles, and themes.

The survey is open now and will close on Monday, September 30, 2025.
