Framingham Restaurant Celebrates The Chimichanga During Month Long Fest

Margaritas will celebrate the Tex-Mex classic this August. Here's what to know.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — One regional chain is about to set off on a journey to celebrate the Tex-Mex classic that is the chimichanga.

Margaritas, the regional chain with a location in Waltham, will host "Chimi Fest" starting on Aug. 4 and running through the end of the month.

The restaurant is releasing a lineup of deeply discounted and deep-fried burritos at its locations throughout New England and New Jersey.

Starting at VIP pricing of $9.99 per chimi entrée, there are two old school standards that will be joined by two limited-edition exclusives, each paired with rice and beans.

The classic chicken chimichanga ($9.99) is a flour tortilla with shredded chicken and cheese that is fried then baked in red chile sauce with cheese. Margaritas also has a birria chimichanga ($14.99) with birria and melted cheese topped with pineapple salsa and served with a side of consommé crema.

Available only during "Chimi Fest," the buffalo chicken chimichanga ($11.99) features buffalo-tossed fried tenders, rolled with jack and cheddar cheeses into a tortilla, topped with buffalo sauce and crema, as well as the juicy pork carnitas chimichanga ($12.99) wrapped in a tortilla coated in tomatillo sauce and cheese, baked, and finished with onions and cilantro.
