Framingham Shoppers World Purchased As Part Of $309M Deal
Urban Edge Properties purchased Shoppers World and Gateway Center to bolster its Boston area footprint.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — Shoppers World has seen a series of openings and closings throughout the last few years. Now, more changes are ahead for the property.
New York-based Urban Edge Properties announced during a Halloween earnings call that it acquired Shoppers World and another Middlesex County property in a deal worth over $300 million.
On October 23, the company closed on the $309 million acquisition of Shoppers World and Gateway Center.

Officials referred to Shoppers World as the "premier open-air shopping center in the Boston suburbs."
Shoppers World totals 758,000 sq. ft., anchored by Best Buy, Nordstrom Rack and several TJX Companies concepts including T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeSense and Sierra Trading.

Recently, Shoppers World welcomed Tavern in the Square and Kura Sushi as additions to the center's restaurant base.
Gateway Center, in Everett, is a 639,000 sq. ft. shopping center anchored by Target, Costco and Home Depot.
"These properties support the Company's strategy of acquiring high-quality retail real estate with future growth potential while providing us with critical mass in the Boston market," officials said, in a news release.
