Framingham Teenager Pulled From City Pond Has Died
Rescue officials were able to pull the teenager from the water, but he later died at a Boston-area hospital, officials said.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — The teenager who was pulled from a Framingham pond over the weekend has died, the city's Police and Fire Departments said.
Originally identified as a 17-year-old, officials now say the teenager was 16. Their identity is being withheld by city officials.
Fire officials were called to Learned Pond at 3:02 p.m. after a 17-year-old swimmer was reported missing, having last been seen in the water around 3 p.m.

"Framingham Fire initiated an immediate response, deploying a full water rescue operation," city officials said. "Responding units included Ambulance 1, Rescue 2, Dive Rescue 1, Engine 5, Engine 3, Boat 3, Boat 5, Ladder 3, and Rescue 1. Framingham Police also responded to the scene."
Responders deployed surface swimmers and organized a "coordinated search pattern" for the swimmer. The District 4 Dive Team was also activated, and one diver on duty entered the water to assist in the search.

Roughly 10 minutes later the missing teenager was found about 30 yards from the beach, officials said.
The teen wasn't breathing when he was brought to the surface, prompting responders to initiate advanced life support on the scene. He was transported by ambulance to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
The teenager was later pronounced dead at a Boston-area hospital.
