'Informed Framingham' Event On Immigration Hosted By LWV
"Here in the U.S. we are currently facing the most hostile environment for immigrants in recent memory."

FRAMINGHAM, MA—The Framingham League of Women Voters (LWV) is hosting their next Informed Framingham event on Wednesday, May 30, from 7-9 p.m. at BRACE, 560 Waverly Street in Framingham.
This event focuses on immigration issues and features Marion Davis, director of communications for the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), and Diego Low from the MetroWest Worker Center. It also includes a representative from the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
"Here in the U.S. we are currently facing the most hostile environment for immigrants in recent memory," said the announcement from Framingham LWV. "Everyone has questions and concerns, whether you are an immigrant, or a concerned citizen about the issues involved in our immigration policy."

Offered to all Framingham residents, the speakers answer questions and offer insights and facts that help us all better understand the issues.
“Immigrants make up approximately 20 percent of the workforce," Stephanie Deeley, president of the Framingham LWV, in a statement. "They add $8.5 billion to the MetroWest and Milford-area economy. This topic is one that impacts all of us. We hope that by holding this event for all residents of Framingham we can begin a dialog that will help all of us to make good decisions based on facts.”

MIRA is a respected leader on immigrant issues at the state and national levels, and an authoritative source of
information and policy analysis for policymakers, advocates, immigrant communities and the media, said the announcement.
MetroWest Worker Center is an immigrant worker-led organization based in the MetroWest area that
organizes to defend and expand the labor, civil, and human rights of all workers.
