Lady Flyers Lose to Needham 67-33

Framingham sophomore Zoie Carter qualified for the state meet in the 300-meter event.

The Framingham High track team lost to the Needham Rockets on Thursday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

One highlight in the 67-33 loss for the girls was sophomore Zoie Carter, who ran a 43.65 in the 300-meter and qualified for the state meet, said head coach Chris Collins.

The girls won the 4X200 relay but Needham won the 4X400 relay.

Seniors Ayana Mckay and Sarah Lucien had a strong outing in the shot put event for Framingham.

Needham swept the high jump.

Needham senior Dee Picou won the long jump, but Flyers Sophie Meltzer and Hannah Greenberg finished second and third.

Needham also swept the 2 mile event.

Needham senior Sarah Armstrong won the mile in 5:20.71 minutes. Framingham’s Lucy Matzilevich finished second in 5:46.79 seconds, with a Needham freshman taking third place.

Junior Jennifer Ribeiro won the 600-meter event in 1:48.49 minutes, but Needham took second and third place.

Needham’s Picou was on the 55-meter dash, Framingham’s Hilda Kusi and Leche Small-Brown took second and third place.
