Licenses Approved For Grocer With Plans For Framingham Store
The Fresh Market is inching closer to opening a Framingham location after the city's licensing board approved two applications.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — It recently became more likely that Framingham will have another grocery option after a recent decision by the city's licensing board.
The Fresh Market, a chain with locations in 22 states across the country, was approved for two licenses at a recent meeting for their proposed store at 84 Worcester Rd.
In addition to a common victualler license, the store was also approved for a license to sell beer, wine and liquor.

Documents show Fresh Market and their representatives have actually tried their hand at this process before, with an application for a liquor license included in the meeting handouts dated 2022.
The now-approved liquor license will be transferred from Route 9 Wine and Spirits to Fresh Market, which will purchase the license for $450,000.

As for what the store will offer outside of groceries and alcohol, the application includes a sneak peek at additional offerings for hot food and coffee, including pre-made salads and pizza. Seating areas will also be included for those who want to dine at the store.
The parent company of Fresh Market, Cencosud, said in 2023 that they planned to open 22 new Fresh Market stores in two years after it exceeded estimates for the company.
