MA Man Buys 15 Kilos Of Sham Cocaine From Feds, Faces Hefty Prison Time
The owner of a Dorchester auto body shop met with undercover officers in Framingham earlier this month.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — A Brockton man was ordered detained pending trial in federal court in Boston oon drug charges stemming from a meeting with undercover officers in Framingham.
Jose Perez, 47, is charged via a criminal complaint with one count of attempted possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
He was arrested on June 11, and, following an initial appearance and detention hearing in federal court in Boston, the Court ordered Perez detained pending trial.

According to court documents, in May 2025, Perez communicated with undercover law enforcement about purchasing 15 kilograms of cocaine. It is alleged that Perez agreed to meet on June 11 in Framingham for the drug deal.
On that day, Perez was allegedly observed traveling from his residence in Brockton to his autobody shop, JP Auto Body in Dorchester, and then back to his Brockton residence, before traveling to meet the undercover officers in Framingham for the drug deal, officials said.

It is alleged that upon arriving at the agreed-upon meeting location, Perez removed $150,000 from a hidden compartment in his vehicle and provided the cash to undercover law enforcement in exchange for 15 kilograms of cocaine.
The narcotics provided to Perez were sham cocaine. Perez then allegedly placed the kilograms of sham cocaine into the hidden compartment in his vehicle before being taken into custody.
The charge of attempted possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine provides for a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $10 million.
