Marian Loses to Arlington Catholic, Archbishop Williams

Marian High swim team is still looking for its first win of the season. Parker Yan won the 50 and 500 freestyle events in the loss Tuesday.

A strong, talented Arlington Catholic swim team defeated Marian High on Tuesday night 78-69 at Medford High, said Marian Head Coach Sue Morse.

The loss puts the Mustangs at 0-2 this season.

Marian High hosted Archbishop Williams on Regis College on Sunday for its season opener. The Mustangs lost 78-68.

Marian is a small team of just 10 swimmers, said Morse.

Tuesday night juniors Parker Yan and Noah T Miller were the stars for the Mustangs, said Morse.

Yan took first place in both the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle events. He swam the sprint event in 27.78 seconds and the distance event in 6:25.43 minutes.

Noah finished third in the 50 free in 30.34 seconds and second in the 100 freestyle in 1:13.38 minutes.

Against Archbishop Williams on Sunday, Yan finished in second place in both the 50 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. His time in the 50 free was 28.53 seconds.

Marian seniors Jacob Bogner and Nick Antonellis gave their all in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay earning the team two second place finishes, said Coach Morse.

Jacob also finished third in the 200 freestyle and second in the 200 breaststroke, at 1:39.31 minutes.
