“Concerns that OPEC nations would agree to production cuts led to temporary increases in oil prices last week,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast, in a press release. “Those oil production cuts did not happen, sending oil prices back under $40 per barrel. Strong supplies and low oil prices are good news for motorists heading into the busy holiday travel season.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 46 cents, from a low of $1.93 to a high of $2.39. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every trip, every time.

AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.

AAA Northeast is a not-for-profit auto club with 61 offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire and New York providing more than 5.1 million local AAA members with travel, insurance, finance, and auto-related services.
