MetroWest Medical Center Names New CEO
John Whitlock Jr. will step in as the new CEO after serving as an interim over the last six months, officials announced.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — MetroWest Medical Center officials have elevated an internal candidate to the position of CEO.
John Whitlock, Jr., CPA, CGMA, will begin as the CEO of the medical center effective immediately, officials announced this week. In this role, Whitlock is responsible for all strategic growth and operations of MetroWest Medical Center, which includes Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital.
Whitlock served as interim CEO of the hospital for the last six months and chief financial officer (CFO) of Saint Vincent Hospital and the Massachusetts market for over two years.

“Throughout John’s time with Saint Vincent Hospital and MetroWest Medical Center, John has developed a strong team, improved performance and driven strategic growth,” said Carolyn Jackson, Massachusetts Market CEO. “We are confident he is the right leader to take MWMC successfully into the future during this challenging time in healthcare. He has already gained significant momentum there during his tenure as interim CEO.”
Whitlock brings extensive experience leading healthcare organizations to the new role.

As interim CEO of MetroWest Medical Center and CFO of Saint Vincent Hospital and the Massachusetts market, he implemented capital improvements, supported service expansions and advanced information system integrations, officials said.
Before his time with Saint Vincent Hospital and MetroWest Medical Center, Whitlock spent three years with Central Maine Healthcare, one as vice president of finance and two as CEO.
Whitlock also serves on the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association Committee on Finance.
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance from Emory University in Atlanta, GA before receiving his Master of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University.
