Mia Lin Wins Elite State Award

Framingham High senior Mia Lin won the 58th Annual Classmates Today - Neighbors Tomorrow award, by the Jewish War Veterans of America of Massachusetts.

Classmates Today - Neighbors Tomorrow is the theme of the 58th annual event sponsored by the Jewish War Veterans of America of Massachusetts. The human relations project for high school students, is designed to honor not academic but human achievement.

This year's first place scholarship award was awarded to Framingham High student Mia Lin, 17, a senior.  The award honors a student for their achievements serving their community and who exemplifies brotherhood as a representative of her entire school.

Lin was one of 65 students across the Bay State eligible for the special award.

“It's really an honor to receive this award and I hope I did a good job representing Framingham here. It's definitely the town that raised me in the way that I've grownup - to appreciate service and its a value that's part of life," said Lin, who was nominated for the award by her vice principal Elyse Torbert.

Lin received a $1,000 scholarship, a watch and plaque of her achievement.
