The Framingham State University field was alive with energy on Sunday, Sept. 13, with fans cheering, coaches strategizing, and players battling on the field.

This week, the Needham Eagles travelled to Framingham to face the Flyers.

Needham opened the game with the ball and pushed their offense down field but were ultimately stopped by the Flyers defense with the help of tackles by Jacques Cazeau and Adam Al-Nammari.

Framingham then ran the ball hard from the get go using Jacques Cazaeu and Cody Coleman as running backs. However, the Eagle defense was also very tough and forced the Flyers to turn the ball over on downs. Needham would eventually score on their next drive with a 17-yard touchdown pass and went into halftime with a 6-0 lead.

Inspired by their halftime meeting, the Flyer offense exploded to start the second half.

They scored on the third play of the half with a 37-yard touchdown run by Cazeau.

Needham responded very quickly, though, making the score 12-7 with a 40-yard touchdown run on their next drive.

Both teams’ defenses were very stingy for most of the 2nd half, as each team had a few fumbles and couldn’t move much on offense.

Cazaeu, Timothy Sullivan, Joseph Balboni, and Marcus O’Brien contributed to the Flyers’ number of strong defensive stops.

Despite playing well on both sides of the ball, Framingham couldn’t seem to finish more drives and score.

They lost 19-7 after giving up one final touchdown but never stopped fighting in a tough game.
