No, Framingham Residents, You Don't Have A Warrant (Probably)

Police have received multiple calls from residents asking if they have active warrants after receiving scam calls.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The answer is simple, concerned residents of Framingham: No, you probably don't have a warrant out for your arrest.

Local police notified residents of a series of scam calls that have reached Framingham.

Several people have called the department asking to verify if they have a warrant after receiving a call from someone representing themselves as "Sergeant Curtis," police said.

"While we do have two Sergeants with the last name of Curtis, they are not making these phone calls," officials said. "These scammers will often use this tactic to scare people into thinking they may be arrested, then asking them to verify or confirm personal information."

Police believe, as is the case for most scams, these calls are being made to gain residents' personal information.
