Olympian Aly Raisman Visits American Girl

Hundreds were able to meet the gold medalist, but more than a thousand were turned away.

More than a thousand local residents lined up at the Natick Mall on Monday afternoon for a chance to meet Aly Raisman, a gold-medal-winning gymnast in the 2012 Olympcs.

Around 500 patient attendees were able to get an autograph from Raisman, but a thousand others were turned away.

Amanda Flahive and her mother Gene waited for three hours outside the mall. They were near the front of the line when organizers told them Raisman had left.

"She has been doing gymnastics since she was 3, she is a big fan [of Raisman]," Gene Flahive said while consoling her sobbing daughter.

In order to accommodate the huge crowds, Raisman arrived at the signing almost two hours early, Julie Parks, the event's spokesperson said.
