Presidential Primary: Polls Open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Framingham voters will participate in the presidential primary today, and elect state and local committee members.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Super Tuesday is today, March 1, and Framingham residents, as well as others throughout the Commonwealth, will be heading to the polls to vote in the Presidential Primary.

Polls will be open in Framingham’s 18 Precincts from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Framingham Town Clerk Valerie Mulvey said she expects about 50 percent of Framingham’s more than 37,000 registered voters to participate in the election.

Besides voting for a presidential candidate, voters in Framingham will also elect one man and one woman to the state Republican or Democratic party.

Voters who are enrolled in a political party can only vote on the ballot for that party. There are four political parties in Massachusetts:

  • D - Democratic Party
  • R - Republican Party
  • J - Green-Rainbow
  • CC - United Independent Party

Those who are “unenrolled” in a political party can request a ballot for one of the four parties above.

The Republican candidate field has pared down to five candidates, but there will be 13 candidates on the Massachusetts ballot. Active Republican Presidential candidates are Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Marco Rubio, and Donald Trump

The Democratic ballot has two candidates, but there will be 4 names on the ballot. Active Democrat candidates are Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Jill Stein, William P. Kreml, Kent Mesplay and Darryl Cherney are running for nomination for the Green-Rainbow Party.

There are no Presidential candidates for the fourth party. on the ballot.

Polling Locations and Hours

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.

Framingham has 18 precincts.

Voters are encouraged to confirm their voter status and polling location by visiting the Secretary of State’s office online or by calling the Town Clerk’s office.

Republican Ballot

Those choosing a Republican ballot will decide between incumbent Edward McGrath of Framingham and challenger Marty Lamb of Holliston for state committee man.

And incumbent Janet Leombruno of Framingham and challenger Patricia Vanaria of Hopkinton for state committee woman.

Republican voters will also be asked to elect up to 35 individuals for the Framingham Republican Committee. On the ballot are less than 35 candidates. They are: Edward McGrath, Constance Barnes, William Osborn, Janet Leombruno, Jacques Prindiville, Douglas Freeman, Mary Z Connaughton, Carol Sanchez Novak, Eugene Novak Jr., Allen Grome, Bernice Strom, and Joseph Norton.

Democratic Ballot

Framingham State Rep. Chris Walsh and Sen. Karen Spilka, of Ashland, are running unopposed for state committee man and woman.

Democratic voters will be asked to elect up to 35 individuals for the Framingham Democratic Committee. There are 35 men and women on the ballot.

On the ballot are: Beverly Hugo, Chris Walsh, Barbara LeDuc, Melvin Warshaw, Norma Shulman, Parwez Wahid, Elsa Aviza, Lori Bornstein, Craig Broyles, Jeanne Bullock, Carmen Chico, John Duffy, C, Patrick Dunne, Maureen Dunne, Jeanne Eversley, Linda Fields, Adam Freudberg, Michael Hugo, Stephen Joyce, FarooQ Karim-Mirza, Lloyd Kaye, Shahid Ahmed Khan, Jack Lewis, Christopher Lorant, Thomas Mahoney, Kathleen McCarthy, Stephanie Mercandetti, Sarah Micciche, Joan Rastani, Cindy Rubin, Elliot Schmiedl, Margareth Shepard, James Stockless, Cheryl Tully Stoll, and P Nandi Varris.
