Rams Defeat Anna Maria 80-56

Framingham State enters the break with a 6-3 record and will return to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 30 when they travel to Clark University.

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham State University women’s basketball team used a strong second half to head into break with an 80-56 win over Anna Maria in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Framingham.

With the win the Rams improve to 6-3 while the AMCATS slip to 5-4.

The Rams were paced by sophomore Raegan Mulherin with a game-high 22 points while collecting 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Juniors Monta Connolly & Alycia Rackliffe each registered double-doubles. Connolly tallied 14 points & 12 boards while Rackliffe scored 15 points with 13 rebounds. Freshman Tiphani Harris added 10 points and 8 boards from the bench.

The AMCATS received a strong showing from junior Nicole Mareiro scoring a team-high 21 points. Classmate Christina Gauvin scored 12 points and senior Samantha Parker registered 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Both teams played an even first two periods. Anna Maria took a 17-15 lead into the second quarter and the teams went into the break tied at 32. After trading baskets the start the second half the Rams went on a 16-3 run spanning over six minutes of the third period to gain control of the game.

An AMCATS bucket with just under a minute remaining in the third quarter would cut the lead to 9 but that is as close as the visitors would get.

The Rams were 27-of-72 from the field and 5-of-24 from long range while the AMCATS were 20-for-57 from the floor and 5-for-8 from downtown.

The Rams forced 27 turnovers by the visitors while only turning it over 19 times.
