Framingham’s town hall is without public or staff restrooms, at the moment.
“We are experiencing a second sewer line blockage at Memorial Building. The DPW Sewer Dept. has tried to clear the line from the outside without success and has determined that the blockage is inside the building system. We will have to address it from inside the building though an interior clean out. This will likely result in a backup in the basement level of the building,” explain Town Manager Bob Halpin.
“For the time being we are without public or staff restrooms anywhere in the building,” said Halpin. “I have authorized some employees to leave early and will be keeping Memorial Building open for business with a skeleton crew. The public should be aware that we do not have functioning restrooms within the building and that those employees who are staying will be using restrooms at the Main Library” on Lexington Street.
There is the possibility of the sewer problem not being repaired this afternoon. If that is the case, any boards or committees scheduled to meet tonight, Sept. 9 in the Memorial Building may need to make other arrangements, said Halpin.
“If this problem is not corrected ... the building will likely be closed tonight,” said Halpin.
This is the second time the Memorial Building has had a sewer issue in the past couple of weeks.
