SLIDESHOW: Flyers Remain Undefeated With Victory Over AMSA
The Framingham High swim and dive team is now 5-0. Next up is a home meet against Boston Latin on Thursday.

The Framingham High girls swimming & diving team remained undefeated with a win over the Advanced Math and Science Academy (AMSA) on Tuesday afternoon.
The Flyers are now 5-0 on the season. Next up is Boston Latin at home at 4:30 tomorrow, Sept. 24 at Keefe Technical’s Pool.

Framingham High senior Devon Tice won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:12.65. Sophomore Julie Long finished second for the Flyers at 2:12.94.
The Flyers swept the 100 yard freestyle event. Senior Emily Osborn finished first in 1:01.81 minutes. Senior Becca Fintonis took second and junior Kallan Angus third.

In the sprint event, the 50-yard freestyle AMSA’s Carol Wang won at 27.14. She is a Framingham resident.
Framingham High sophomore Kara McCurdy finished second in 27.65 and junior Isabella Tersoni was third in 28.07 seconds.
AMSA’s Wang also won the 100 yard butterfly event in 1:01.25 minutes. Framingham High senior Haley MCCurdy finished second and senior Aja Matzker finished third for the Flyers.
In the 200 yard individual medley (IM), Aidan McDonald won for AMSA.
(Editor’s note: Boys are allowed to compete on girls swim teams if the high school does not have a boys team in the winter season. AMSA had several boys on the team yesterday.)
The Flyers, however, finished second, third, and fourth in the IM. Haley McCurdy took second, sophomore Olivia Nelson finished third, and junior Katherine Castro finished fourth, all earning points for the team in the victory.
In the 100 yard backstroke, McDonald again won for AMSA. And again, Framingham finished second, third, and fourth. Nelson finished second, Castro third and junior Shelby Weeks finished fourth.
Head coach Mike Foley said “deep sweeps” in the IM and backstroke were important to the win.
In the 100-yard breastsroke, Hadar Artzi won the race for AMSA. Framingham sophomore Lizzy Tallino had the second fastest time with junior Alessandro Miranda with the third fastest time.
In the 1-meter diving event, AMSA’s Elizabeth McQuaid of Marlborough won with 218.30 points.
Flyer sophomore Halia Bower finished in second place with just five dives. She failed on her sixth dive. Junior Stephanie Fawell finished third for Framingham.
In the long distance event - 500 yard freestyle, Framingham sophomore Kara McCurdy won the race in a time of 5:35.28 Senior Tice finished second for the Flyers and freshman Emily Rogers captured fourth place.
Framingham High won the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:52.57. On the relay was Tice, Tersoni, Emily Osborne, and Kara McCurdy.
The Flyers finished second and third in the 200 yard IM relay. On the second place team was Matzker, Osborne, Anna Parra, and Kara McCurdy.
On the third place team was Nelson, Miranda, Haley McCurdy, and Tersoni.
In the final event of the meet, the Flyers had the fastest time of the time in 4:12.71. On the relay team was Haley McCurdy, Tersoni, Hannah Rose and Tice.
