SLIDESHOW: Flyers Win Home Opener Against Natick 61-53

The Framingham High boys basketball team is off to a 2-0 start this season.

The Framingham High boys basketball team, coming off its season opener against Weymouth, hosted rival Natick for its season opener on Tuesday night .

The Flyers defeated the Red Hawks 61-53.

Junior captain Jack DiConza led the Flyers with 15 points. He hit a big three 3 late in the game to seal the victory, said Framingham High head coach Ben Torbert.

“We were very sloppy offensively and let Natick stick around by turning the ball over 21 times. However, we kept our composure late in an emotionally charged atmosphere. They made a run, but we were able to step up and take some key charges to stem the tide,” said Torbert.

The Flyers are now 2-0 on the season.

Junior Kevin Lora scored 11 points in the win for Framingham.

Lora played “excellent defense” against “Natick’s top scorer,” said Torbert.

“We need to play a lot better moving forward, but we are happy to be able to teach after a win,” said Torbert.

Next up for Framingham is an away game against Dedham Friday at 6:30 p.m.
