Team Framingham Lottery Monday Night

84 applications were received by the deadline for the Town of Framingham's 22 2016 Boston Marathon bibs.

The Town of Framingham received a total of 84 applications for its Team Framingham 2016 lottery, according to Framingham Selectman Mike Bower.

The total “surpasses” the 76 applicants in 2014. There were 52 applicants last year.

The random selection for Team Framingham 2016 is scheduled for Monday December 7 at 7 p.m. in the Ablondi Room at the Memorial Building.

The 22 lucky selectees will receive a bib for the Boston Marathon on Monday April 18, 2016.

Bower told Selectmen on application was denied as the applicant did not meet the employee verification. All applicants needed to be a full year or school year employee of the Town of Framingham or the Framingham Public Schools, Keefe Technical School or the McAuliffe Charter School. Bower said the Town Clerk was still verifying a handful more applicants for residency verification.

The random selection is open to the public.

“The Team Framingham Boston Marathon program has been a huge success these past two years. Our Team Framingham runners have raised more than $113,000 for local charities. 46 of our 47 Team Framingham runners have successfully completed the grueling 26.2 mile Boston Marathon course. We expect a high level of interest in the community and among town employees for a coveted invitational entry for the 2016 Boston Marathon” said Bower.
