Teenager Nearly Drowns In Framingham Pond
Framingham fire officials were able to rescue the 17-year-old who was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
FRAMINGHAM, MA — A teenager nearly drowned while swimming at a Framingham pond on Sunday, city officials said.
Fire officials were called to Learned Pond at 3:02 p.m. after a 17-year-old swimmer was reported missing, having last been seen in the water around 3 p.m.
"Framingham Fire initiated an immediate response, deploying a full water rescue operation," city officials said. "Responding units included Ambulance 1, Rescue 2, Dive Rescue 1, Engine 5, Engine 3, Boat 3, Boat 5, Ladder 3, and Rescue 1. Framingham Police also responded to the scene."

Responders deployed surface swimmers and organized a "coordinated search pattern" for the swimmer. The District 4 Dive Team was also activated, and one diver on duty entered the water to assist in the search.
Roughly 10 minutes later the missing teenager was found about 30 yards from the beach, officials said.

The teen wasn't breathing when he was brought to the surface, prompting responders to initiate advanced life support on the scene. He was transported by ambulance to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Officials shared that, at the time of the incident, four city staff and two lifeguards were on duty.
