TJX, Staples CEOs Among Highest Paid in Massachusetts

However, both CEOs took major pay cuts from previous years.

According to a report on Boston.com listing the highest paid CEOs in Massachusetts, Framingham-based TJX Corp and Staples both have their CEOs in the top 20.

TJX Corp CEO Carol Meyrowitz was #12 on the list. In 2011 she made $11 million, but in 2010 she earned $23 million. "The decline of nearly $12 million in the most recent filing was due to significantly smaller stock and option awards, according to documents filed by the Framingham retail discounter with securities regulators. Meyrowitz has been chief executive since January 2007," reported Boston.com

Staples CEO Ronald L. Sargent was in the top 20. He made $8.8 million in 2011 but $15.1 million in 2010. He has been CEO since "Feb. 2002 and has worked for the company since 1989. His compensation decrease largely came from a more than $5.4 million drop in stock awards from 2010," reported Boston.com.
