Traffic Alert: Where Motorists Will Encounter Road Projects in Framingham

The following is an alert on Town of Framingham and MassDOT road construction projects for the week of Sept 21,

Construction schedules are weather permitting.

  • BELKNAP ROAD (between Pleasant Street and Clearview Drive): Milling and paving of the roadway will take place this week. Expect moderate traffic impacts.
  • GATES STREET: Paving of the roadway is anticipated late this week on Gates Street between Salem End Road and Country Club Lane. Expect significant delays.
  • CENTRAL STREET BRIDGE OVER THE SUDBURY RIVER: Day work: MassDOT contractors will continue construction of the new bridge. Traffic will continue to be detoured over the Wickford Road Bridge. Please allow additional travel time. Night work: Framingham Public Works will continue installation of a new water main under the bridge in the nighttime hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • COBURN STREET/WINTHROP STREET AREA: The contractor will continue curbing and sidewalk work on Bridges Street and Cypress Street. Pavement milling will begin on Cypress Street and Winthrop Street (from Bridges Street Extension to the intersection of Waverly Street). A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect during milling operations. Seek alternate route if possible. Expect delays.
  • EDGELL ROAD: Massachusetts Turnpike contractors will be installing conduit across the roadway in the area of the turnpike overpass/Edgebrook Road. Expect delays.
  • EVERSOURCE DOWNTOWN UTILITY PROJECT: The contractor will continue nighttime conduit installation on Hollis Street Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect moderate delays.
  • MAIN STREET: The contractor will continue utility construction work on Main Street between Union Avenue and High Street and on Granite Street. Traffic plans may include one-way alternating traffic and/or detours. Expect traffic delays on affected roadways. Police details will be on site to facilitate traffic.
  • MILLWOOD STREET AND WINCH STREET: The contractor will be installing street signage in the area of the newly installed speed humps. Expect minimal delays.
  • NICHOLAS ROAD: Contractors will complete crosswalk markings. Expect minimal delays.
  • ROUTE 9 BRIDGE OVER FOSS RESERVOIR OUTLET: Construction continues on the middle section of the bridge. The westbound pedestrian sidewalk will remain closed. Expect moderate delays.
  • UNION AVENUE: Eversource Gas will be replacing the gas main and services from Walnut Street to Proctor Street. Expect delays.
  • WAVERLY STREET: Milling of the roadway and curbing work will continue in preparation for the new crosswalk in the area of the train station. Expect delays.
  • WOODMERE ROAD: Framingham Public Works will begin milling of the roadway. Expect minimal delays.
